S-Poly TESCON Calls For Decent Campaigning

Space FM,Sunyani - The Sunyani Polytechnic Branch, the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party,(NPP) has called on all political parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refrain from using words that have the tendency to threaten the security of state.

TESCON refered to the recent press conference by the Flagbearer of the NDC in trying to put in the minds of Ghanaians that the ruling NPP has put mechanisms in place to rig the December polls, saying that statement should be condemned by all well meaning Ghanaians.

“The Nation Ghana is supreme and bigger than all political organizations and so every Ghanaian must protect the Nation”, TESCON said in a statement signed by their president Emmanuel Tweneboah Koduah.

The statement added that “the days when Ghanaians especially the youth particularly were used to the advantage of political parties and some selfish individuals are past and gone. Ghanaian youth are wild awake and would resist any revolt that would destabilize the security of the state”.

TESCON therefore appealed to all well meaning Ghanaians especially the youth to be patriotic to guard and protect the country’s young democracy.

The statement said “the worse democratically elected government is far better than the best military regime”.

It said the youth of Ghana have the pivotal role to play in safe guarding our democracy and urged them to rise up and educate the ignorant Ghanaian about the need to protect our democracy and the country.

“Students should be ware of politicians who invade our campuses to sell their wild and negative propaganda in an effort to pursue their own political agenda for their selfish interest”, it added.

TESCON also called on Ghanaians and political parties to denounce violence as a means of solving economic, social or political problems and imbibe the culture of dialogue and non violence approaches through out the campaign and beyond.

“The need for peace in Ghana is a prerequisite of unity and development. Let us all help to build a better Ghana ”, the statement said.
