Road works equipment inaugurated for Hohoe Municipal

Hohoe, Nov 2, GNA - Mr Joseph Amenowode, the Volta Regional Minister, has inaugurated equipment for road works and cut the sod for work to start on paving of Hohoe main lorry park.

The equipment, donated by National Security, is worth over GHC 2 million, comprises of a grader, roller, pay-loader, tipper truck and back-hoe machine.

The pavement works is being financed with the District Development Facility (DDF) and this includes construction of U-drains and kerbs.

Mr Amenowode said Kpando and South Tongu districts benefited from similar packages.

Togbega Gabusu VI, the Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, commended National Security and said the traditional council would collaborate with the Hohoe Municipal Security Council to ensure a judicious use of the machines.

Mr Victor-Hermann Condobrey, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, said the equipment would contribute to reshaping the Municipality's roads to link food producing centres to markets.

He said the facility would be rented out to contractors to generate revenue and boost development.

Mr Condobrey said those who would operate the machines had been trained and that a supervisory committee had been set up to supervise the use of the machines.
