Residents pollute Assembly premises

Techiman (B/A) April 5, GNA - Containers and kiosks impounded and placed at the premises of Techiman Municipal Assembly's have gradually been turned into places of convenience and brothels by some unscrupulous people. Condoms and human excreta are littered in the containers and kiosks, posing a health hazard to residents around.

Mr. E. Yeboah Young, Municipal building inspector, who disclosed this, told Ghana News Agency that the Assembly impounded the containers and kiosks last year following the failure of their owners to pay the necessary levies. Some of them had also been placed at unapproved sites, he added.

Mr. Young expressed regret about the attitude of the owners who had "turned deaf ears to appeals", to come forward for them or they would be auctioned and the proceeds paid into the Assembly's coffers.

He warned that anyone caught indulging in such nefarious activities would be drastically dealt with.
