Report to assembly members in project areas - contractors urged.

Assin Kruwa (C/R), May 26, GNA - Regional and District Tender boards have been urged to ensure that contractors report to assembly members in areas they are undertaking contracts for effective monitoring and supervision of projects.

This would also ensure that communities supported development projects with communal labour for their early completion. Mr Paul Danso, Assembly Member for Assin Kruwa-Nyamebabu in the Assin South District who made the appeal noted that some contractors even did not visit their work sites but only entrusted their contracts to hired supervisors and foremen leading to shoddy works. He told the GNA that a three-classroom block built under the European Union Micro project about eight months ago for the Kruwa Junior Secondary School (JSS) had faulty doors and windows because inferior material and wood was used for the frames and louvers while the floor had started cracking.

Mr Danso expressed concern about the staffing position of the school with only two teachers handling nine subjects as the main factor contributing to the falling educational standards in the area.
