Register your births and deaths - Nkoranza residents urged

Madam Hannah Yeboaa Kyeremeh, Nkoranza Municipal Officer of the Births and Deaths Registry has stated the need for the residents to register the births and deaths in the Municipality.

She said the conscious adherence to such national statistical requirements by the residents would enable her outfit to record the accurate number of births and deaths that occurred in the communities and the entire Municipality annually.

The Officer, however, noted that could be achieved with the assistance of all stakeholders in the education of the populace and therefore appealed to members of the Municipal Assembly to assist in that regard.

Madam Kyeremeh made the statement during a meeting with the Nkoranza branch of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Pensioners Association about the activities of the Registry at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The meeting, was to brief the pensioners about the importance and multi-purpose benefits of such registrations to individuals, families and the Assembly, so that they would also educate the residents in their communities.

She urged family heads to register their deceased members because the death certificates would assist them in processing the necessary documents for any banking claims and pension benefits without much challenges.

Madam Kyeremeh said only four deaths have been reported for January 2016, although there had been many deaths in the communities.

Pastor (retired) Benjamin Yaw Barimah, Chairman of the Association, advised the members to attend meetings regularly because that would enable them to become abreast with issues confronting pensioners and also help them keep their personal records accurate for them to continue to receive their benefits without any problems.

Pastor Barimah advised the members who have attained 72 years to update their records with the SSNIT office so that their names would continue to exist until the stipulated 75 years by the Trust.
