Regional House of chiefs receive vehicles

Accra, Dec. 20 GNA - The National and Regional House of Chiefs on Thursday received 12 Nissan Patrol cross-country vehicles worth 500,000 new Ghana cedis. The vehicles were acquired through the 2007 budgetary allocation of the Ministry for Chieftaincy and Culture. The 10 regional houses of chiefs got a vehicle each, whiles the remaining two went to the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture and the Office of the President of the National House of Chiefs. Presenting the vehicles, Mr. Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture asked the drivers to follow the maintenance system for vehicles at the ministry to ensure that they lasted longer. "When it is time for servicing vehicles, some of the drivers even refuse to change the oil in the vehicle. Any driver who does not comply with the maintenance system would be dismissed, " Mr. Boafo stated.

Mr. Boafo asked the drivers not to use the vehicles for unofficial duties to help keep them in good shape for the next 10 years. Mr. Samuel Rexford Takyi, Acting Registrar of the National House of Chiefs said the vehicles would help in facilitating administrative duties at the regional and national levels.
