Rainstorm renders 500 people homeless at Akim Aboabo

Over 500 people have been rendered homeless following a rainstorm that hit Akim Aboabo in the Eastern Region.

The rain which stated while most of the people were at a funeral ground in the town, ripped off the roofs of six buildings, and destroyed the canopies mounted at the grounds.

There were no casualties.

Mr. Kwesi Agyepong Quaittoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, who was accompanied by some New Patriotic Party Executives in the area who attended the funeral had to run for their lives.

Meanwhile, the victims whose building roofs were ripped off as a result of the storm, are now putting up with their relatives and friends.

The MP told the Ghana News Agency that, he has directed the assembly member of the town, who also attended the funeral, to inform the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to prepare estimates on the damage caused, for further action.
