Principal of Mampong NMTC retires from public service

The Mampong Traditional Council, in collaboration with the students and staff of Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training College, have organized a send-off service for Mrs. Lydia Asiedua Yamoah, Principal of the College who retires after 32 years of active service in the Ministry of Health and 11 years as Principal.

In her farewell address, Mrs. Yamoah advised the students to learn hard and be prepared to serve the country professionally after their training.

She thanked the Mampong, Nsuta and Yeji Traditional Councils, students and staff of the College, the clergy and everybody who assisted her to do what she did.

She listed the number of achievements at the College, and said she came there 11 years ago and met only 100 students doing two-year Post Basic Midwifery Course, and that she was leaving at a time the student-population was 1,445.

Nana Daasebre Osei Bonsu the second, Omanhene of the Mampong Traditional Area, praised Mrs. Yamoah for developing the College to become one of the best health institutions in the country.

The Kwamanman Rural Bank instituted a 1,000-Ghana-Cedi scholarship scheme in honour of the out-going principal to be awarded to the all-best-round student every year.
