Preparations are underway for the funeral and burial ceremony of the late Abiba Nnaba, mother of President John Dramani Mahama at Busunu in the Northern Region today (Friday).

A grave has been dug while the heavy vehicles are putting the funeral ground in a good shape to receive the dignitaries who are expected to attend the funeral ceremony.

Abiba Nnaba died on Tuesday evening at the SSNIT Hospital in Accra after a protracted ailment.

Hours after her death, there was disagreement over where to bury the old woman.

The Chief of Busunu, younger brother to Madam Nnaba’s father had refused to allow the deceased to be buried in Bole which is the hometown of President John Mahama’s father E.A Mahama.The Chief held a meeting with a delegation from President Mahama father’s family led by the DCE for Damongo over the issue.

He insisted that because President Mahama’s father divorced Madam Nnaba along the line, it will be improper to allow the former’s family to bury Madam Nnaba in Bole, as against Busunu which is the latter’s hometown.

It appears an agreement has been reached to peacefully lay Madam Abiba Nnaba remains in her hometown of Busunu.
