Police arrest three suspected armed robbers

Tamale, Nov. 27, GNA- The Tamale Police have arrested three persons suspected to be among a group of armed robbers who attacked passengers on board four buses, including a State Transport coach, at Babatokuma, near Kintampo and robbed them of their money and property.

The three persons, suspected to be Burkinabe fulanis, are Musah Adam, 25, Abdul Kasim, 31 and Jaho Mumuni 44.

Mr David Ampah-Bennin, Deputy Northern Regional Police Commander, told a press briefing in Tamale on Thursday, that the robbers shot and killed Mr John Nkrumah, driver of one of the buses.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said following a tip-off, the police proceeded to Kakpayili, a suburb of Tamale, with a search warrant and arrested the three suspects at their hideout.

He said the police retrieved 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, three motorbikes, two mobile phones, 112,000 CFA Francs and 950,000 cedis from the suspects.

He said the police found out that the phones belonged to a lady and one Ben Afful, a military man, and that both were believed to be victims of robbery.
