Police Junior Command Course Two takes-off

The Director-General, Human Resource Development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Osabarima Oware Asare Pinkro III has urged police personnel to take training courses seriously to enable them acquire command, control and tactical skills.

This, he said would enable them to evaluate the consequences of issues of threats to public safety.

DCOP Osabarima Pinkro III gave the advice at the opening ceremony of a five- week Junior Command Course Two for 50 senior police officers at Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba on the theme: “Command, control and tactical skills of officers.”

Then participants would be schooled on topics including, emotional intelligence and leadership, managing the media, crime prevention strategies, cybercrime and counter measures, policing management, interview and interrogation, crime scene practical training, emerging security and national security architecture.

According to DCOP Pinkro the theme reflects the selected topics of the front line senior police officers functions and skills expected to be applied to discharge their duties.

“As front line Senior Officers, the demonstration of your command, control acumen and application of tactical skills to obtain satisfactory results from your day-to-day police work can be achieved through training of this nature,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Commandant of the College advised the participants to exhibit the highest form of commitment in order to derive the optimum benefit from the course.

She said they should open their minds, interrogate and critique the presentations by the resources persons to guide them to be efficient managers.
