Plan Ghana donates computers to schools in Awutu-Senya

Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), May 24, GNA - Plan Ghana a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has donated desktop computers to four basic schools in Awutu-Senya District as part of its social responsibility towards the proper development of children in Ghana.

The beneficiary schools are Awutu Opeikuma, Papase, Bontrease and Mangoase, which received two computers and accessories each.

Mr George Cobbinah Yorke, Acting Southern Sector Manager, on behalf of the organization, made the presentation at the organisation's office at Awutu Bawjiase.

He urged the education directorate in the district to ensure that computers were used for their intended purpose to enable every child of school going age child to be abreast with modern technologies.

Mr Yorke said the donation was a pilot, explaining that other schools would benefit from the gesture when their computers were used judiciously properly maintained to prolong their life spans.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Education Service and the Awutu-Senya Education Directorate, Mr Abaidoo Abentwi Edzii, the District Director, expressed his appreciation to Plan Ghana for their kind gesture and also for their immense contributions to the District towards providing quality education for the children.

He expressed the hope that the computers would support the beneficiary schools in the teaching of Information Communication Technology, which has been incorporated in the syllabus in all levels of education delivery to enable the students to become computer literates.

Mr Joseph Assan, Awutu-Bawjiase Area Manager of the NGO, earlier said in his welcoming address that the gesture was based on requests made by the schools and expressed the hope that they would be protected from viruses that could eventually damage them in a shorter period.
