Peace building committee honours four police Officers

Kumasi, April 16, GNA - The Peace Building Committee, a community-based organization at Asawasi in Kumasi, has honoured four police officers of the Asawasi Police Station for their commitment to duty. They are Deputy Superintendent of Police George Andrews Kumah, the District Police Commander, Chief Inspector Mustapha Donkor, Station Officer, Chief Inspector Michael Boateng, in-charge of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) and Detective Inspector Patrick Asante, in-charge of Crime.

The officers were presented with certificates, Kente cloths and other souvenirs.

A citation given to Mr Kumah read in part "Your dedication to curbing crime has helped to enhance peace at Asawasi and its environs in recent times. We particularly praise you for the good job you did to ensure peace before, during and after the recent general elections." Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Asawasi and Minister of Youth and Sports, who made the presentations on behalf of the Committee, stressed the need for the public to complement the efforts of the police in maintaining peace.

He said they should encourage the formation of Neighbourhood Watch Committees and also volunteer information to the police to flush out criminals. Mr Kumah on behalf of the officers thanked the committee for the honour and promised to work hard to ensure peace in the country. 16 April 09
