Parliamentary select committee visits minister

Parliamentary select committee paid a courtesy called on the northern regional minister. 23/04/2014 A 15 Member Parliamentary delegation led by the Honourable Osei Kyie Mensah Bonsu, paid a courtesy Call on the Northern Regional Minister Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Muniru -Lemuna, at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC),today.

Briefing the Minister, The Public Affairs Director of Parliament, Mr Jones Kugblenu, emphasised that the Delegation are of two teams and were into the region to undertake certain specific duties regarding to their functions as legislators. This he indicated that the first being the public account committee of parliament(PAC,) who are to scrutinize the auditor general’s reports of some colleges of education in the Northern Sector and the other team being the leaderships of parliamentary Caucus, who are to undertakes educational outreach program on some of the successes and challenges of parliamentary functions to the general public within the Tamale Metropolis.

On his part the Minority Leader of Parliament, who is also the Member of Parliament for Suame Magazine, in the Ashante Region, Honourable Osei Kyie Mensah Bonsu said his outfit is bringing parliament to the doorstep of citizenry in the Northern Sector.

Hon Mensah Bonsu, stressed that their work is to enhance the accountability and transparency of central government activities to ensure value for money as a nation.

He used the rare opportunity to appeal for the general insecurity in the region to be addressed thereby ensuring the continuous sustainability of peace.

The Northern Regional Minister, Hon Alhaji Muhamed Muniru-Lemuna, bemoaned that 80 per cent of his time is been spent on the maintainace of peace and security, a development he said would not inure to the soio- economic and infrastructure advancement of the region.

Alhaji Limuna, opined that their engagement was crucial considering that many Ghanaian populace are of the view that MP,s from both political divide do not meet on a common platform to discussed on issues heartedly.
