Parents urged to ensure proper education of their children

Aduamoa (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA- Mr A.Y. Boafor, Kwabre District Director of Education, has urged parents to collaborate effectively with teachers to unearth and develop the talents of children for a better future.

He said parents have a role to play in the education and proper upbringing of their children for a sound and sustainable human resource base and development.

Mr Boafor made the call at a harvest of chiefs and people of Aduamoa on Tuesday to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the local Authority Primary School.

He called on the people to support the government's Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) to ensure that all children of school-going age attend school by the year 2005.

Mr Boafor advised the pupils not to indulge in social vices, which could affect their education and rather concentrate on their studies. Alhaji Akwasi Yeboah, District Chief Executive (DCE), urged the people to embrace the national health insurance scheme, which he said, aimed at providing easy access to quality health-care delivery in the country.

He deplored attempts by some people in the society to disrupt the current democratic dispensation and appealed to Ghanaians to resist any attempt by few individuals to destabilise the State. Nana Osei Tutu II, Chief of Aduamoa appealed to the District Assembly to provide the town with its share of the assembly's common fund for development.
