PTAs urged to support teachers

Nkoranza (B/A), Oct. 23, GNA- Mr. Ben-Bella Frimpong, Nkoranza Circuit Supervisor of Education, has urged Parent-Teachers Associations (PTAs) to support teachers towards the proper training and development of their children.

He expressed regret that some parents spent lavishly on social ceremonies instead of providing their children with basic educational materials.

Mr. Frimpong, who was addressing the PTA meeting of Nkoranza District Assembly 'B' Junior High School on Tuesday, asked parents to compliment government's efforts at promoting education.

Mr. Ben Effah, headmaster, expressed disappointment at the bad performance of the school in this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination.

He attributed the development to truancy and lateness among students and advised parents to check their children against such attitudes.

Mr. Effah appealed to people to help connect electricity to the school to facilitate academic work. Miss Agartha Osei, District Girl's Education Officer, urged parents to encourage their children who were teenage mothers to go back to school. She asked teachers to encourage, support and counsel school children to enhance their performances. Mr. Job Kwame Gyasi, the PTA chairman, urged parents to regularly visit the school to enable to effectively contribute to the development of the school.
