PTA renovates school block

Assakae (W/R), July 19, GNA - The Parent/Teacher Association of Whindo Methodist Primary and Kindergarten have renovated an old and dilapidated structure to be use for pre-school education.

Mrs. Veronica Anzah Cobbinah, Headmistress of the school, said the renovation, estimated at GHC 5,000, would ease congestion.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Cobbinah said the renovation was timely as over 120 children from the KG had graduated to class one to begin the next academic year.

Mrs. Cobbinah said she was grateful to the PTA and urged them to fulfill their responsibility regularly to the school adding, “School management depends greatly on your widow’s mite.”

She said though MTN selected the school to renovate a two-classroom block, the contractor bolted away with the money and abandoned the project.

“I was introduced to the contractor and the project coordinators to commence work, having demolished part of the building but they abandoned the work”, Mrs. Cobbinah said.

She said the PTA and the School Management Committee took up the project and funded it adding, “On behalf of the entire staff of the school, we express our profound gratitude to the PTA and SMC for the project.”

Mrs. Cobbinah said the school lacked furniture for the 650 pupils and that the renovated school block also lacked doors.
