PTA refurbishes school library

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Most Holy Heart School at Dansoman in Accra, has refurbished the school’s library the cost of which runs into thousands of cedis.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr Kofi Baah, Vice Chairman of the PTA, said the rationale behind the project was to help bring the library to modern standards to assist the children in their studies.

Mr Baah appealed to Management of the school to ensure the proper handling of the library by the students in order to prolong its life span.

He advised parents to make meaningful contributions towards the school’s development by making the education of their wards their topmost priority.

Mr Ernest Joseph Brown, Executive Director of the School in charge of Administration, commended the PTA for the initiative, and said the library, with sufficient stock of relevant books, would have a seating capacity for more than 6o students at a time.

Mr Brown appealed to PTAs nationwide, to always add to the infrastructure of the various schools of their wards, to improve the academic performance of the children.

Master Joseph Kankam, the Boys Prefect thanked the parents and guardians for their immense contributions towards the improvement of academic standards at the school.

Master Kankam assured the PTA of the judicious use of the library by the students in order to justify the cost that went into its construction.

Mrs Helena Efua Packer, Founder of the School, Mr Joseph Packer, her husband, and Reverend Father Peter Kabutey (SVD) of the Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church at Dansoman, jointly commissioned the project.
