Outboard motor repairer kills pregnant daughter, stabs wife

Luck run out for Edward Kwaku Asoku, a 51-year old outboard motor repairer when he was arrested in his attempt to escape to Nigeria after allegedly murdered his step daughter and wife at Biriwa in the Central Region.

Asoku was on Monday arraigned before a packed Magistrate Court in Cape Coast and charged with two counts of murder and causing harm.

His plea was not taken and has been remanded into prison custody to be re-arraigned on Friday, March 30.

Chief Inspector Charles Anku told the court presided over by Mr Kwaku Ohemeng Mensah, that the docket would be forwarded to the Attorney- General’s office for advice as soon as investigations were completed.

He said there was a misunderstanding between Asoku and his wife, Madam Adwoa Aduafo, 48 and his step- daughter, Maame Adadzewa, 30.

Chief Inspector Anku said on Friday, March 2, Asoku who was armed with a knife, followed the two to a funeral grounds and allegedly stabbed his wife in the stomach.

He said Adadzewa who was three-months pregnant was also stabbed in the abdomen by Asoku and they were rushed to the Central Regional Hospital where Adadzewa died on arrival whiles Madam Aduafo is still on admission at the same hospital receiving treatment.

He said Asoku then went into hiding till the Police arrested him at Mankessim upon a tip off that he was about to travel to Nigeria.
