Otiko djaba wishes regional aspirants well

The National Women’s Organizer of the NPP, Otiko Afisa Djaba has extended words of good wishes to all candidates and organizers of the party’s regional elections, which come off on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, in all the regional capitals.

The day will witness the election of officers to fill various executive positions at the regional level.

Speaking at the formal launch of her re-election campaign in Accra, the Party’s National Women’s Organizer also congratulated the various candidates for putting up a clean campaign devoid of insults, stating that campaigns should always focus on issues which will serve the benefit the party, rather than personalities.

She debunked assertions that the elections will lead to the polarization of the Party, explaining, that disagreements between party members on party positions, in the run up to party elections is an essential ingredient of a true democratic institution like the NPP. “Various opinions expressed by Party members and supporters on prospective candidates will only facilitate the election of formidable and competent leaders, who will lead the Party to victory in 2016. At the end of the day, the most important thing is for the best candidate to win, in a free and fair environment”, Otiko said. On her chances of retaining her position as National Women’s Organizer of the Party, Otiko expressed her confidence at registering a resounding victory over her competitors, Tina Mensah, and Mawusi Nudekor Awity. Elected to Office in 2010, Otiko attributes her strength to the experience acquired over the period, something her competitors do not have the benefit of. According her, the experience acquired in the 2012 general elections, which according to the Party’s leadership was rigged to the benefit of the opposition NDC, has equipped her with invaluable knowledge which she will bring to bear to the 2016 elections, to ensure that the Party is not cheated the second time. She also used the occasion to congratulate the Party’s leadership for successfully organizing Polling Station and Constituency elections in all parts of the country, and expressed optimism that the NPP will go through the regional elections, and emerge stronger for the national elections, and subsequently, the 2016 elections. To their main political opponents, the NDC, Madam Otiko Djaba advised then to concentrate on delivering on their un-achievable promises, instead of banking on a possible polarization of the NPP, as their surety to victory 2016. “That will not happen”, she said.
