Orphanage appeals for more public support

Kumasi, Oct. 27, GNA - King Jesus Charity Home, an orphanage at Boadi in Kumasi, has appealed for more public support to make life a bit comfortable for the children.

Revered Kofi Owusu Afriyie, Founder, said the Home was facing problems of surging feeding cost and pressure on the limited accommodation. Established 14 years ago with only three children, its population has now grown to 182.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he said the Home provided food and shelter and took care of the medical bills and the education of the children.

"To help us to accomplish our mission of looking after these children, we are asking for donations in cash and kind," Rev. Afriyie said. He said what had kept the Home going had been the generosity of some churches and individuals and their own small scale farming activities. He said helping the socially disadvantaged and the deprived should be seen as a shared responsibility by all, especially by the rich in society.
