"Operation Show Your Ticket" effective in Upper West

Wa, Dec 16, GNA - The Metro Mass Transit's (MMT) recent "Operation Show Your Ticket" programme is working effectively in the Upper West Region. Passengers who patronize the services of the MMT buses now know they have a duty to demand their tickets and keep them throughout the journey for inspection. The exercise is aimed at eliminating revenue leakages in the operations of the buses.

Inspection of the tickets is now done before the bus takes off and repeated at every stop before the bus arrives at its final destination. Mr Malik Ibrahim, MMT Depot Manager at Wa, told the GNA in an interview on Thursday that the exercise had become effective in the region because of the numerous interventions that had been implemented. These include; public educational messages on radio stations, public address systems at all MMT terminals and the increase in the number of inspectors across their operational areas. Another new intervention is the "Mystery Guest Passenger" who usually pays as a passenger but is on a mission to monitor the conduct of the driver and the conductor without their knowledge and report to the manager. He said stand-by buses had been provided to quickly go to the aid of stranded passengers when any of the buses breaks down during a journey. These interventions, Mr Ibrahim noted, had tremendously helped in boosting their revenue.

Additionally, it had helped in raising the confidence level of passengers with respect to the services rendered by MMT. He urged the public to support MMT by giving them their maximum cooperation so that they could offer them better services.
