One person died, four injured in accident

Begoro, May 2, GNA - One person died on the spot and four others sustained various degrees of injuries when a Toyota pick-up with registration number GR 4095 R skidded off the road and ran into some people standing by the roadside in Begoro on May Day. The vehicle also destroyed an electric pole and caused total black-out in Begoro and its environs.

The deceased was identified as Harrison Darkwa, a 12-year-old Primary four pupil of the Begoro Mills Duodu Demonstration Primary School.

The injured were Miss Rosemary Ampim-Darko, a Teacher, Ophelia Sakyiamah, unemployed, Mark Anthony Nyarko, alias "Obolo", the driver and his friend Kwame Fosu.

The injured are on admission at the Begoro Government Hospital, while the body of the deceased was deposited at the hospital's mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The Begoro Police has confirmed the incident. Meanwhile, an eyewitness told Ghana News Agency that the driver was speeding in town when he lost control of the steering wheel thereby causing the accident.
