One dead and several others sustain injuries in an accident

Wenchi, Sept 13, GNA - A middle-aged woman was killed on the spot and several other passengers injured when a 60-seater bus traveling from Kumasi to Wa got involved in an accident on the Wenchi/Wa stretch of the road at the weekend.

About 10 students of the Wa campus of the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale were also on board the bus. All the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the Methodist Hospital at Wenchi.

Mr Samuel Botwe, one of the students, told the Ghana News Agency at the hospital that the driver of the vehicle could not negotiate a curve after descending a hill so the vehicle plunged into a ditch. Injuries sustained by another student, Mr Kofi Debrah, son of Mr Ernest Debrah, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, were so serious that he has been referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman.
