Kumasi, July 3, GNA - Mr Kwame Achampong-Kyei, Executive-Chairman of the GLICO Group of Companies, has appealed to old students to endeavour to mobilize resources to support the infrastructural development of their alma-mater.

He indicated that education was indispensable to the growth of any society adding, it was incumbent on old students to be committed to addressing the challenges confronting their schools by providing libraries, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) centres, science laboratories, accommodation and classroom facilities for their schools.

This, he said, was crucial to foster effective academic work to the advantage of the nation. Mr Achampong-Kyei said this after cutting the sod for work to commence on an ultra-modern sick bay for the Kumasi Academy Senior High School at Asokore-Mampong in Kumasi. The about 240, 000 Ghana Cedi project, is being funded by the old Students of the School.

The event coincided with the maiden Re-Union and Homecoming celebration of the School. Mr Achampong-Kyei, who is an old student of the School, announced plans by his Company to construct washrooms for some dormitories in the school to ensure good sanitary practices. Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene, in a speech read on his behalf, advised the students to be studious and shun all forms of vices that could be detrimental to their career development. He commended the founding fathers for their vision and dedicated services in the establishment of the school and urged stakeholders to work hard in their various capacities to help sustain the gains made over the years.
