Offinso Traditional Council approves 6,000 acres to investors

The Offinso Traditional Council has given approval for the release of 6,000 acres of land to two local investors to cultivate tomatoes and to establish tomatoes factories in the area.

Five thousand acres of the land approved by the Council is sited at Akomadan and has been released to "Three Oaks Enterprise," while the remaining 1,000 acres located at Kyerede has been allocated to "Kwaku Owusu Enterprise".

Nana Wiafe Akenten 111, Paramount Chief of the Offinso Traditional Area, announced the release of the lands to the investors at the Offinso Traditional Council meeting held last Tuesday at Offinso.

He said agreement had also been reached with the Three Oaks Enterprise to re-activate the dam and irrigation canals at Akomadan to facilitate the cropping of tomatoes.

"Negotiations are still going on with the investors to allow the council to use the land released to them to represent the council's share in the businesses to be established.''

Nana Wiafe Akenten gave the assurance that the Traditional Council was poised to release land to both foreign and local investors in a bid to make the President's Investment drive a reality.

Nana Wiafe Akenten however, made it clear that, "our gesture will benefit only very genuine investors and enterprises willing and desirous to meet their social responsibility to the communities in which they will be operating."
