Nzemaland to host Ind. Day quiz competition

An Inter-District Quiz Competition is will be held for some districts assemblies and basic schools in the Nzema area as part of activities marking Independence Day.

The quiz is to bring assemblies closer to the doorstep of the people, particularly school children.

The quiz, which is the maiden edition, is sponsored by ‘SAIGHA FOUNDATION’, a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Nzema.

Participating districts are Nzema East Municipality, Ellembele District and Jomoro District.

The Executive Director of Programmes of Nzema Events Management, organizers and promoters of the event, Mr. Koame Adonle Mieza, said the event would be an annual event which is targeted at encouraging and awarding students and schools within the area to be patriotic.

According to him, the participating schools were selected based on their performance in the 2014 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), thus the first and second positions on the league table in their districts.

He said awards would be given to all the six participating schools and districts ranging from trophy, plagues for all schools, text books and certificates of honour and participation and cash prizes to schools.

Mr. Mieza further commended ‘SAIGHA FOUNDATION’ for sponsoring the event as well as agencies responsible for the education in the area and the Office of the Member of Parliament for Jomoro Wing Commander Francis Anaman (rtd).
