Nkoranza tertiary students support their juniors

Nkoranza (B/A) Aug. 8, GNA – The members of the Sunyani Polytechnic Chapter of the Nkoranza Students Union have purchased 1000 exercise books valued at GHC900.00 for distribution to all Junior High Schools (JHS) in Nkoranza South and North Districts.

Mr. Daniel Gyabaah-Amoateng, President of the Association, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the donation formed part of its 10th Anniversary Celebration Programme, explaining the gesture was aimed at encouraging the students to take their education seriously at all levels.

He urged students in the area to shun negative practices and attitudes that could adversely affect their education.

Mr. Gyabaah-Amoateng encouraged parents to offer the necessary support towards their children’s education so that they would not involve themselves in social vices that could cause them to drop out.

In another development, the Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association has donated some second-hand clothing, exercise books and supplementary reading books to inmates of Let Kids Smile Orphanage at Nkoranza.

They also screened the 12 children of the Home and vaccinated them against Hepatitis B.

The exercise is part of the Association’s Annual Campaign Programme.

The Association has also received a donation of GHc1,500 from the Faith Gabelnick Grant of the Pacific University at Oregon, United States, towards the celebration of its annual Drug Safety and Health Awareness Campaign programme.

The donation was delivered through Miss Binh Kim Tang, a student at the School of Pharmacy of the Pacific University who recently visited her colleague students of the Pharmacy School of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Kumasi, on an exchange programme.

The assistance is part of the institution’s social responsibilities aimed at enhancing the progress of developing countries.
