Nkawie-Kuma raises 40 million cedis for development

Nkawie-Kuma (Ash), Jan 28, GNA - The people of Nkawie-Kuma in the Atwima District of Ashanti raised 40 million cedis towards development projects at their recent annual Christmas Home Coming.

Projects to be undertaken include the construction of a school block and the provision of streetlights.

Addressing the people at the function, Mr Charles Yeboah, Atwima District Chief Executive, reiterated that the assembly was prepared to support any community, which initiates development projects to raise their living standards.

He therefore, called for co-operation between chiefs, unit committees and the people of the district to ensure peace, which, was vital for development.

The DCE pointed out that where there was peace, there was development and added that peace was therefore a sine qua non for development.

Mr Charles Mensah, the assemblyman for Nkawie-Kuma, appealed to the sub-traditional council to use part of its royalties to support development projects in the town.

He further appealed to the district assembly to assist the community with building materials for the construction of the local Anglican Primary School.

Mr Jonathan Darko-Mensah, Chairman of the unit committee, assured the people that any money that would be collected would be used for the intended development projects.
