Navy chief warns personnel against armed robbery

Rear Admiral Geofrey Biekro, the Chief of Naval Staff, has cautioned personnel to avoid temptations to engage in illegal activities.

Rear Admiral Biekro said, "our uniform is not good for armed robbery, land guard and galamsey activities.”

He gave the caution during a presentation and commissioning of two vehicles and two fuel tankers to the Eastern Naval Command at Tema Manhean.

The CNS advised the naval personnel to "look at the uniform whenever there is the temptation to perpetrate an illegality."

He stressed that "if you want to do those things, bring me the uniform before doing so."

Rear Admiral Biekro appealed to the personnel to project the Navy in good light noting that Ghana Navy must aim at being the best in Africa as it was the best in West Africa in 2013.

On the presentation of the vehicles, he stated that one of the vehicles would be used to convey instruments of the Navy Band, and the other would be used for fleet purposes to convey personnel and logistics.

The 18,000 and 27,000 litre fuel tankers would provide enough holding capacity for the fuel allocated to the Command.

The CNS, who also inspected some ongoing building and accommodation projects, expressed his delight at the progress of work.

He said the Navy was the only security service established without a barracks, therefore, the need for an accommodation could not be over emphasised.

Commodore Steve Darbo, Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, thanked the CNS for the initiative to provide the Command with the vehicles, tankers and the accommodation projects.
