National Chief Imam turns 89 on May Day

Today marks a historic day in the life of Dr Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, as he celebrates his 89th birthday with the Darkuman Muslim community in Accra.

Speaking at the birthday celebration, Sheikh Yahya Al-Amin, Grand Advisor to the Chief Imam, said the Chief Imam is a great blessing and a national asset to all Ghanaians and that the celebration was not just to enjoy but to show appreciation to Allah for the life of the Chief Imam.

He said the Chief Imam through his leadership had bridged the gap between the Muslim community and the Christians hence the need for all Ghanaians to emulate his leadership style.

Sheikh Al-Amin said the Imam had used his office to unite several sects and brought forth peace in the Muslim community stressing that all Muslims should uphold and take all steps to sustain the peace they enjoy today.

Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi, also known as Jesus One-Touch, expressed his appreciation to the Chief Imam for his visit to the prisons where he was incarcerated, and called on all Ghanaians especially the youth not to allow themselves to be exploited by politicians.

He said the peace of the country should be firstly considered by everybody, adding that it would be prudent for all political parties and supporters to psyche themselves to accept the outcome of the upcoming general elections.

Prophet Kofi Yirenkyi cautioned all pastors to be vigilant and firm at all times, stressing that they shouldn’t only be interested in money but the welfare of members of their churches and Ghana as a whole.

Dignitaries at the event included Deputy Chief Imam Dr Sheikh Amen Bonsu, Kwasi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Ibrahim Sannie Daara, Director of Communications (GFA) and Alhaji Sulemana Braimah of Accra Hearts of Oak.**
