Nana Enimil Kuma IV honoured.

Tarkwa (W/R), Dec 16, GNA- The Wassa West Fish Farming Training Centre has been named after Nana Enimil Kuma IV, chief of Huni-Valley for his immense contribution towards fish farming in the District. The honour was conferred on him by Mr. Emmaneul Kwasi Ayensu, the Wassa West District Chief Executive, at a ceremony at Tarkwa. At the same ceremony, 40 participants were presented with certificates for undergoing training in fist farming in Kumasi. Mr. Ayensu said Nana Kuma's contribution towards fish farming would go into the annals of history in the district, saying it would forever be a living testimony.

He challenged other fish farmers to make a mark in their various communities attract the youth to take to fish farming. I Mr Ayensu said when the youth take to fish farming it would help solve the unemployment problems and also make the youth self sufficient. Mr. Ayensu advised the fish farmers not to depend on rearing fishes alone but should grow crops and rear other animals as well. The D.C.E told the trainees to go out and teach others who need their expertise.

He advised members of the Association to be of good behaviour to earn the respect of society in order to inspire others to help them. Nana Kuma in response thanked the Association for the honour done him and dedicated the award to all members of the Association. He said "you have done this to me but I consider it as an inspiration that should be enjoyed by all members of the Association". Nana Kuma advised the trainees not to lose hope in the vocation and be prepared to face challenges.

He said they should not look at the beauty of fish farming but show commitment towards the job. Earlier in a welcome address, Mr. Peter Eshun, Chairman of the Fish Farmers Association said, said the association had come a long way to where it is now. He said through the sponsorship of Nana Kuma, a veterinary office was renovated at a cost of A222 million to be used as a meeting place. In addition, Nana Kuma has released land for the construction of fish ponds free of charge among other things. Mr. Eshun appealed to the D.CE to help set up a fish farming school to train the youth instead of leaving them to their fate to venture into galamsey. 16 Dec 06
