Social Disaster 2 Bolgatanga In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Kofi Portuphy, National NADMO Co-ordinator charged the members of the Committee to develop policies and plans to prevent mitigate and prepare for disasters. Mr Portuphy also entreated the Committee to act as a pressure group to influence the district assemblies to enact bye-laws, geared towards disaster risk reduction and ensure that the blue print is factored into the development agenda. He tasked the members to develop specific mechanisms to engage stakeholders in disaster risk reduction measures and build on the spirit of volunteerism.

Mr Portuphy also asked the Committee to explore avenues for resource mobilisation to support NADMO towards the implementation of sectoral plans and programmes. He noted that disaster risk is increasingly becoming a global concern. Naba Aleemyaroom, on behalf of the members, pledged to work hard to assist NADMO to reduce disasters in the Region.
