NPP parliamentary aspirants appeal for support for Ada coastal dwellers

Sept. 3, GNA – Two New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspiring parliamentary candidates for Ada and Sege constituencies, have appealed for humanitarian support for the people Ada who have been displaced by tidal waves of the sea.

Mr Divine Otu Agorhom and Mrs Betty Atsupe Gorleku Quarshie, who made the call in separate interviews with the Ghana News Agency, consoled with the affected people and promised to further help to salvage the situation if they were given the nods to serve in Parliament.

Mrs Quarshie said under the administration of the NPP the people of Keta, who faced similar situation, were saved from the aggressive threats of the sea.

She urged the coastal dwellers to remain calm and prayerful while the government put in place a mechanism to solve the problem.

Mr Samuel Ofori Portuphy, District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), who went round to inspect the extent of damage done by the tidal waves, advised the people to relocate.

He said the level of destruction was beyond the management of the District office of NADMO and therefore, the national headquarters would be contacted for materials and technical support.

The people of Ada were recently confronted with a devastating tidal waves destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis as well as rendering the coastal dwellers homeless and jobless.
