NFED organize workshop for facilitators

Komenda (C/R), Nov 2, GNA - Dr Joseph Samuel Annan, the Deputy Minister of Education, has said the government's "Better Ghana" agenda programme called for knowledge, education, commitment and unity.

He said this during the closing session of a five-day workshop for 150 facilitators of Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education drawn from the Central Region.

The workshop, organized by NFED, was designed to introduce participants to National Functional Literacy Programme and also to acquire skills in managing and facilitating literacy classes.

Dr Annan said human resource was the most important aspect for development and added "you are the important agents for the change". He appealed to the participants to go into their communities to generate change of attitude of people to enable them contribute to socio-economic development of the nation.

Dr Annan said "knowledge is development" and urged them to ensure that in educating the people about how to read and write no person irrespective of his or her social status should be left behind.

Mr Gideon Fianya, the Central Regional Director of NFED, appealed to adults who did not have formal education to enroll with NFED to learn how to read and write and also acquire employable skills.
