NDC is gaining roots in Offinso District

Offinso (Ash), Nov 2, GNA - Mr Ibrahim Inusah, Offinso South constituency secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that the party is gaining roots in the district and the membership is increasing at a high rate.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after a forum with party supporters at Offinso on Friday, Mr Inusah said the party is working very hard on the quiet not only to restructure the branches, zones and wards but also to win more support and sympathy.

He said the Ashanti Region is no longer the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a result of the unprecedented economic mess, bad governance and corruption of the party.

"NPP has totally failed and disappointed Ghanaians and their inability to fulfil the numerous promises made to the electorate has made most of its supporters, especially the youth, disillusioned and despaired", he emphasised.

Mr Inusah urged the NDC supporters to be resolute and unite to wrest political power from the NPP in the 2004 general elections. He announced that three candidates, including a female, have so far filed their nominations to contest for the parliamentary seat in the 2004 elections, but failed to disclose their names.

Mr Inusah, however, said their efforts would not yield the desired results if the national executives failed to resource them financially and appealed to the party faithfuls, supporters and sympathisers to donate to the party.
