NCall to help establish Health Insurance Scheme

Wenchi, (B/A) Oct 18, GNA - Mr. Daniel Osei-Asibey, Deputy District Coordinating Director for Wenchi has called on the District Assembly and health providers to help establish the district's health insurance scheme.

Making the call at the close of a day's forum on the establishment of the scheme at Wenchi in Brong-Ahafo, he said the Assembly had taken keen interest in the community-based scheme towards the well-being of the people.

The programme is a laudable one and is of much concern to the Government, he added.

Dr Julius A. Dadebo, District Director of Health Services said that it was the determination of the Government to get every district involved in the health insurance scheme by the end of 2004. The scheme has democratic structures for decision-making and for the general improvement in the people's lives, he added and called on NGOs, Churches and well-wishers to contribute to make the scheme a success.

Mr. Philip Akanzinge, Brong Ahafo Regional Health Insurance Coordinator, noted that the scheme would help improve the quality of health delivery services and asked the people to embrace it. He commended the government for providing the Nkoranza Health Insurance Scheme in the Brong-Ahafo Region with 100 million cedis to support its operation.
