Mrs Amissah-Arthur urges mothers to live worthy lives

Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, Wife of the Vice President, has charged Christian mothers to live worthy lives to serve as testimonies to others.

She, therefore, urged the women to show genuine love, integrity and discipline in all their endeavours.

Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur made the call at the Catholic Women’s Association Annual Diocesan Conference held in Sekondi.

It was on the theme: “The Value of Marriage and Family: The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of the New Evangelization”.

Other dignitaries were Nana Kobina Nketia IV, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area who chaired the occasion, Mr Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister, Most Reverend John Kwofie, Bishop of the Sekondi Takoradi Dioceses and Captain Anthony Cudjoe (Rtd), Chief Executive of Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur called on the women to be prayerful in supporting and nurturing young women, teaching them not only the Bible but how to live exemplary lives.

She said: “As Christians, God delights in our praises," and also urged them to rise above partisanship and avoid discrimination.

“As Christians we are told to love our enemies, so whether the person is of the same political persuasion or not we have to show love to them because we are all one people. It is by loving that we show the world that we are Christians,” she said.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur said with the abundance of radio and television stations in the country, women must not allow their children to watch just anything and that there was too much violence on TV with children having easy access to pornographic materials either from the net ,TV or in the books.

She reminded the women of their duty to ensure that their children watched healthy and educative programmes as well as read good books.

She said as Christian women they were accountable to the Lord for the family that He had entrusted to them.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur charged the women to help stop the indiscipline, laziness and immorality among the youth so that they would be beneficial to their families and society.

She urged Christian mothers celebrating the Catholic Women’s Day to use the occasion to evangelise to the rest of the people not only on Sundays but on daily basis when they had the time to do so.
