Ministry of Local Government organize workshop for Assemblymen

Twifo Praso (C/R), June 16, GNA 97 Mr. Joseph Foster Andoh, District Chief Executive for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, has appealed to Assembly Members to be abreast with standing orders of the local government and district assembly system. This, he said, would enable them to contribute meaningfully and effectively during assembly meetings. He was opening a two-day workshop for 65 assembly members in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District at Twifo Praso. Mr. Andoh said it was the aim of the government to equip them with knowledge and qualities of a good leader and urged the participants to take the course seriously. The objective of the workshop organized by the Ministry of Local Government was to sharpen the capacity and skills of participants. Mr. Eric B. Oppong, the District Coordinating Director, took participants through topics like the Local Government and District Assembly system, Roles and Responsibilities of District Assembly functionaries and key stakeholders in Local Government. Other topics were Accountability in the management of Assemblies, the committee system of the assembly, Model Standing Orders of the Assembly and Enhancing Participation and Resource Mobilization. 16 June 11
