Minister urges Muslims to contribute towards peaceful election

Winneba, Oct 1, GNA - The Minister for Public Sector Reforms, Mr. Samuel Owusu-Adjei, has appealed to Muslims to continue praying for a peaceful election in December. Mr. Owusu-Adjei, who is also the Member of Parliament for Effutu, was addressing Muslims from the constituency to mark Eid ul Fitr. He said the nation needed peace to develop and that every Ghanaian should do his or her best for the nation to have a peaceful, free and fair election. He said roads in the Zongo area have been awarded on contract for tarring and urged the people to cooperate with the contractor when work is started. The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Robert Andrews Ghunney, advised the people in the area to avoid violence and unite to enhance the rapid development of the municipality. The National Democratic Congress parliamentary aspirant for Effutu, Mr. Mike Allan Hammah, congratulated Muslims for a successful Eid El Fitr.

Mr. Hammah said that the forthcoming election urged Ghanaians, especially to youth, not to allow politicians to use them for their selfish gains and cause trouble. He urged the electorate to vote him back to power to continue development projects he started when the NDC was in power. The Chief Imam of the Community in Winneba, Alhaji Jerbirem Mohammed Abubakari III, led them in prayers for a prosperous nation and peaceful election in December. The chief of Zongo Community, Alhaji Sulemani Salaga IV, advised the youth that Islamic region is not associated with violence and appealed to them not to involve themselves in hooliganism and other negative behaviour that would soil the good image of the region.
