Mfantseman receive government’s free laptop computers

Twenty schools in the Mfantseman Municipality have been supplied with laptop computers to enhance teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT).

Mr. Henry Kweku Hayfron, the Municipal Chief Executive who presented the laptops said the government programme to present each child with a laptop computer was on course.

He stressed on the importance of computers in the present day life of scholars.

The MCE said if drivers would have to be examined on computers before they could be issued with driving license, then Ghanaians must realise the importance of the equipment.

Mr. Hayfron said to make computers accessible, the government had engaged a communication firm, Rlg, to assemble computers in Ghana.

He appealed to Ghanaians to patronise locally made computers to encourage the company to produce more.

The MCE urged teachers who were not computer literate to take advantage of the computers provided for the schools to become computer literate.

He urged the schools to take good care of the items to make them last.

Mr. Bartholomew Kwame Ofori, Municipal Director of Education appealed to teachers and heads of schools not to make the computers decorative pieces but must allow pupils to have the feel of them.
