Mfantseman Assembly staff to get goods on hire purchase

Saltpond (C/R), Nov. 12. GNA - Junior workers of the Mfantseman District Assembly are to benefit from the supply of household appliances and other items on hire purchase, The District Chief Executive Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur has announced.

He said when that proved successful, the programme would be expanded to cover building materials to enable some of the workers put up their own houses.

Mr Quainoo-Arthur was interacting with the staff of the assembly to find out their problems and to solicit their cooperation and commitment to moving the district forward.

The meeting, the first to be held with the staff since the DCE took office last month was to enable them express their problems and grievances most of which bothered on staff welfare including non-payment of overtime and night allowances to drivers and watchmen, hospital bills and the poor condition of the Mankessim Market.

Mr. Quainoo-Arthur assured the workers that he would do his best to ensure their welfare to enable them feel happy to work. He reminded the staff that rights go with responsibilities and urged them to step up their output at work.

Revenue mobilization he said, should not be seen as the responsibility of the few revenue collectors alone and urged all staff to contribute towards broadening the assembly's revenue base.

The DCE gave the assurance that his administration would give priority attention to the improvement of facilities at Mankessim market to generate more revenue. He said steps had already been taken to construct pavement slabs and access roads in the market. 12 Nov. 03
