Media should be fair in reportage - Afriyie-Ankrah

Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has called on the media to be balanced, fair, and accurate in their reportage.

“President John Dramani Mahama is passionate about the press taking its place at the table of our democratic development”, he said.

Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah was speaking at a press soiree organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2012 campaign committee in Accra. The deputy minister who is also campaign coordinator for the NDC in the December general election, said government and the media were important partners in informing, educating and inspiring the citizenry to achieve their individual goals within the ambit of the collective national goal.

He stated that President Mahama was the one who spearheaded the liberation of the media when he was then Deputy Minister of Information and also Minister of Communication in the previous NDC administration.

Mr. Afriyie-Ankrah used the occasion to acknowledge the various youth groups for their support and hard work to retain President Mahama in the castle in the December polls.
