Masara N’ Ariziki farmers Association Holds 3rd AGM

Masara N’ Ariziki farmers Association has held its 3rd Annual General meeting at Pusu Namong in the upper East region. The association elected eight members from selected zones to represent colleague farmers at the council.
The council which is the highest decision making body for the entire association enjoys an annual mandate of steering the affairs of the entire membership.
Speaking to the media, the farmers lauded the association for the timely deployment of inputs to members across the zones and expressed their readiness for the new season.
Mahama Alhassan, a cotton farmer from the Cheriponi zone called on his colleagues to participate in the farmer-training programme instituted by the association and aimed broadening knowledge among members on improved farm practices that was crucial for higher yields. He thanked management for the recent payment of bonuses to members.
Outstanding and hardworking groups who recorded excellent performance in the 2014-farming season were awarded. Best maize farmers group, best cotton farmer group and best female group received a tricycle and inputs. A raffle draw also saw members went home with consolation prices in a form of inputs but most lucky winners went home with matabi knapsac sprayers
The event brought together over 3,500 farmers from all their operational areas. The annual general meeting drew stakeholders to take stock of activities of the past season and to trade ideas that would harness the welfare of farmers
Speaking to the media, the chief of the area Naab Kumbalasaa, thanked Masara for hosting such a prestigious event in his land. “Saying this is the first time I have such an event “.
Naab Kumbalasaa appealed to Masara to admits more people in their project in order improve the lives of farmers in the Northern regions.
On his part, Mr Mohammed Sundow, the chairman of the association charged members to adhere to the policies of the association to improve on their yields. He commended management of imploring new strategies geared at emitting challenges confronting the association.
“Will we accept an association where few members spectacularly do well? Or we will commit ourselves to an association that generates rising income and chances for every one who make the efforts, the chairman questioned. He therefore requested the maximum cooperation of all members to inject much sanity and commitment in the job.
