Manya Krobo invite investors to develop the tourism industry

The Upper Manya Krobo District has called on investors to partner the district to develop the several touristic potentials that abounds in the district. The aim is to create job opportunities for the youth as well as to facilitate the development of the Many Krobo district

The District which was recently created has many tourism potentials such as water falls, ancient caves in umbrella shapes and amazing rock formations, two major markets, the Akateng and Asesewa markets, a water front with beautiful scenery along the Volta lake and Islands that when developed could turn the area into a tourists paradise.

In an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Media Auditing and Development Tracking project team being sponsored by Star-Ghana, the leadership of the assembly made this known and urge the GNA to use its media influence to market the district’s tourism potentials to drive its development agenda.

Mr Joseph Tetteh Angmor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) said Akumesu and Otrepker had large and attractive waterfalls that when developed would be the next destination of tourists after the popular Boti and Tini waterfalls all in the region.

He said most of the tourist sites are in their raw state and therefore the assembly need huge investments to put them in appreciable standards to attract tourists and generate employment and revenue.

According to him, the assembly was faced with huge developmental challenges and could not develop the sites on their own.

The DCE therefore appealed to the GNA to use its media platform to solicit for partnership and investments to help the assembly meet its development target. The Upper-Manya Krobo District is considered as one of the three deprived districts in the region.

It consists of largely rural communities and surrounded by the Volta Lake and the predominant occupation of the people is fishing and farming.
