Manklalo appeals to government to fix Bakpa roads in the Volta Region

The Manklalo of Bakpa in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region has appealed to the government to improve the deplorable roads linking most of the communities in the traditional area.

Torgbui Torsu III made the appeal at this year’s Klokpoza celebration of the chiefs and people of Bakpa at New Bakpa, the traditional capital.

Bakpa ranks among the most peaceful traditional jurisdictions in the Volta Region. It has tens of thousands of citizens, some of whom reside outside the area.

Even though Bakpa is fast developing, resulting in the springing-up of hotels and restaurants; access roads remain a major scarcity for the residents. What may pass for roads in the area are in rather deplorable and almost impassable state, making the movement of people, goods, and services very difficult.

It is against this background that Manklalo Torsu addressed this year’s Klokpoza at New Bakpa; and so, he appealed to the government to timely get the roads reconstructed to ease the mobility difficulties facing his people.

The Chairman of the Bakpa Development Association and Chairman of the Festival Planning Committee, Vincent Senyo Awudi, called on all citizens of Bakpa to contribute their quota towards the development of the area, assuring that land acquisition for development would not be a problem at all.
