Manfo Paramount Chief to celebrate 50 years reign

Kumasi, Feb 18, GNA- Nana Kwame Ntim II, Omanhene of Manfo, has invited citizens of the area both home and abroad to join in the Golden Jubilee Celebration of his reign.

The occasion would not only showcase the rich culture of the area but roll out development projects lined up to better the lives of the people. Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Thursday, Nana Ntim said the climax would be a grand durbar on Saturday, March 27, to be attended by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.

Other planned activities for the week-long celebration include non-denominational service, clean-up exercises, cultural display by school children and a football gala.

Nana Ntim said for half of a century that he has served as Omanhene, he has provided the right leadership that has brought to the traditional area tremendous physical development, citing school buildings, a clinic, extension of electricity, potable water and the tarring of the Akwasiase-Manfo road.

He, however, said there remained a number of challenges that required the government's support to address.

These include teachers' accommodation, school libraries, small water project and extension of power to Subriso and Twabidi communities. Nana Ntim was installed the Omanhene in September 1959 at the age of 30. 18 Feb.10
