Man dies from snakebite

Goaso, (B/A) Oct. 28, GNA- Yaw Mensah, 19, a member of the Fianko Cocoa Spraying Gang near Dominase in the Asunafo District died last Wednesday when he was bitten by a snake while on duty. Mensah, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) was wearing Wellington boots when the snake entered the boots and bit him twice. This made him unconscious.

Narrating the incidence to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Goaso, the Field Supervisor for Dominase Cocoa Spraying Gangs, Mr Benjamin Okyere said Mensah was immediately rushed from the bush to the Government Hospital.

Lack of transport, however, made it difficult to make the journey until a Circuit Supervisor of the Ghana Education Service (GES) offered to assist with his motorbike by tying the victim to another passenger behind him (the Supervisor).

Mensah was pronounced dead on reaching the hospital, Mr Okyere said.

The Asunafo District Assembly has paid condolence to the bereaved family while the corpse has been deposited at the Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
