"Mahama-led NDC administration is an embarrassment to Northerners" – Bugre Naabu

The Northern regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the John Mahama-led NDC administration is a total failure and an embarrassment to Northerners in particular since the president is their Kinsman. According to Mr. Daniel Bugre Naabu, the abysmal performance of the NDC government in the country, with its resultant hardships on people, could be a recipe for rejection of Northerners in future attempts lead this nation.

The NPP Chairman, Daniel Bugre Naabu speaking at the inauguration of constituency Volunteer Coordinators under the Volunteers for 2016 (V-16) group of the party, underscored the need for Ghana to work again since it has been paralyzed by the NDC government but however said that can only be done under a Nana Akufo-Addo-led government.

The Volunteer for 2016 (V-16) is a group made up of scholars and young intellectuals from the various tertiary institutions in the country who have offered to voluntarily assist the party to garner and canvass for votes from the grassroot level ahead of the 2016 general elections in the country.

The outspoken Northern regional Chairman charged the volunteers to work hard for a change to save mother Ghana from a total collapse. This he said means serious business hence there should be no room for laziness and lukewarm attitudes. Mr. Bugre Naabu reckoned the fact that as volunteers their role is vital to the success of the party in the upcoming general elections because the party's campaign arrangements for 2016 is best described as retail campaign strategy. He said the party depends largely on the grassroot operatives of the party since they are with the people at the local levels and therefore know their needs and aspirations better.

According to the NPP chairman, in the past the party had always drawn up campaign messages from the top and push it down to the lower levels, saying that this time round it is the reverse where those at the bottom will draw up their messages acceptable to their people, hence the need for the volunteer groups for the 2016 general elections.

He however stated that the volunteers have not been appointed to take over the work of the constituency executives but to complement them in the day to day campaign in the constituency.

Meanwhile the Constituency Volunteers for 2016 (V-16) were sworn in and taken through an orientation to equip them with what is required to work efficiently and effectively to enhance the fortunes of the party in the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections and beyond.

Deputy Coordinator of the Volunteers for 216 (V-16) in-charge of Northern zone, Nuhu Bayabo Mahama in an interview with journalists said the initiative was the first of it kind in the African sub-region and the NPP leads the way. He believes with the V-16 the party will be able to effectively and efficiently manage their resource unlike previously there used to be duplication of groups within the party which leads to excessive spending.

Nuhu Bayabo who also doubles as the Deputy National Organizer of the NPP enumerated the importance of the volunteer group to the success of the New Patriotic party ahead of the November polls and charged all party members to embrace the initiative and work in Unisom with both constituency regional and national executives as well as campaign teams.

He stated the need for vigilance and hard work to ensure a solid victory for the country.

He told Fiila News that similar volunteer groups will be inaugurated across all constituency in the country.
