MP supports community with 40 million cedis towards project

Amadum-Adankwame (Ash), Dec 30, GNA - Mr Owusu Benito Bio, Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima-Nwabiagya in the Ashanti Region is supporting 10 communities with 40 million cedis from his share of the common fund towards their electrification projects. The communities are Abira, Amadum-Adankwame, Gyankobaa, Maabang, Amanchia, Ahodwo, Nkruma, Kapro, Ani-Nkrumah and Hiawu-Besease. He has also donated about 3,000 bags of cement to some communities towards the rehabilitation of their school blocks which were in deplorable conditions.

Mr Bio announced this when he presented 10 low-tension poles to the Amadum-Adankwame community at their fund-raising harvest in aid of their electrification and KVIP projects on Wednesday. The MP expressed concern about the poor patronage of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in his constituency and asked the people to take their health issues seriously and register with the scheme. He commended Dr Ronald Addai, a citizen of the town for putting up a six-classroom block for the local primary school and a library for the junior secondary school.

Mr. Thomas Ofori-Donkor, the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, asked the people to pay their property rates as well as their basic rates to enable the assembly generate more funds to develop the district.

He said in view of the increase in enrolment in schools due to the introduction of the capitation grant, the assembly would build more schools to accommodate all the pupils. The provision of accommodation for teachers would also be given prompt attention.
